The Centre for the analysis of risk and optimisation modelling applications
(CARISMA, www.carisma.brunel.ac.uk) is seeking applications for a
three-year PhD studentship in the area of optimisation under uncertainty
including
Stochastic programming, Chance constrained programming and Stochastic
integer
programming.
The project will focus on
1. Modelling uncertainty in domain of capacity planning in the supply chain
and financial portfolio planning decisions specifically involving discrete
decisions;
2. research into the heuristics and algorithms for processing large-scale
Stochastic integer programming models.
The potential candidate should have a good degree in Mathematics or in a
scientific
or engineering subject with a high mathematical content; the applicant
should be
interested in applying mathematical methods to solving applied problems.
Knowledge of software packages and programming languages such as C/C++, VB,
Fortran, Java and computer literacy is desirable.
This studentship is open to UK or EU residents with permanent right to stay
in the EU.
The studentship covers the fees as well as a bursary for a period of 3
years.
Please send email to Dr. Chandra Poojari ([log in to unmask]) or
Prof. Gautam Mitra ([log in to unmask]).
Warm Regards,
Chandra
