Problem Structuring Methods Revisited
OR 46, 7th – 9th September 2004. University of York, United Kingdom.
Stream organisers:
Alberto Franco, University of Warwick & Mark Westcombe, Attivation.
We would like to invite you to submit a title and abstract for
consideration in the PSM stream at OR46. Papers that fall within the
following themes will be especially welcome:
* The past, present and future of PSMs
* New Directions for PSM research and theory development
* New applications of PSMs
As part of the stream Jonathan Rosenhead will give a keynote paper on
the past and future directions of PSMs with a panel discussion that will
include Peter Checkland, Colin Eden, Fran Ackermann, John Friend and Jim
Bryant. Other papers and panels have been invited to ensure coverage of
the wider PSM field.
We will particularly welcome contributions from younger researchers and
practitioners engaged in applying PSMs and related methods, as well as
those who traditionally publish outside the OR community. Papers of
particular interest include, but are not limited to:
* evaluating PSMs;
* evaluating the role of the facilitator;
* understanding the product of a problem structuring intervention;
* using computer technology to facilitate group decision making;
* transferring the craft skills of problem structuring (apprenticeship,
training, teaching);
* the implementation of actions after a PSM workshop;
* expanding the portfolio of recognised PSMs; and
* critiques of PSMs from other fields.
Information on the conference can be found at: www.orsoc.org.uk.
Informal enquiries can be made to either of the stream organisers.
Appropriate papers will be invited to contribute a full paper to a
forthcoming special issue of the Journal of the Operational Research
Society (JORS) edited by the stream organisers and Duncan Shaw, Aston
University.
We would appreciate if you please make this information available to
your colleagues who are involved in research, education or
implementation of PSMs and related methods.
Best regards,
Mark Westcombe, Attivation.
