At the risk of being controversial, herewith my immediate thoughts.

Lung function testing sounds like shutting the stable door after the
rapid
departure of the horse! Has the company concerned actually done a full
risk
assessment and, if so, what hazards and associated risks did they
detect? If
there were significant risks, what has been done to adequately control
these? Lung function testing will only show you if they have got it
wrong,
and after the event. If they did not detect any risks, then why do
lung
function testing? The only argument I can think of is that this might
indicate  an exposure and consequent effect that had not been detected.
(On
that basis should we not be doing lung function testing for everyone.
After
all, who knows what we might be exposed to!)
