Donne,
If an individual makes an application to work past normal retirement age,
for extending working from 60 to 65, it is a managers decision based on the
individual's absence history and performance in the role. The individual's
manager refers them to Occupational Health if there are any health
conditions or issues affecting or with the potential to affect their ability
to work past normal retirement age.
A referral to OH is made in all cases for those asking to work from 65 to
70. We write to the GP and then advise if the individual is suitable to work
up to 70 years. An annual review is then put in place. No-one is curently
allowed to work past 70 years.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Over 65's health assessments
HI folks
We are putting together a health standard for assessment of over 65's
(supply teachers, cleaners, school crossing patrol staff) specifically
within a local authority setting. I would be grateful if any of you kind
people out there would like to share any standards you may already have in
place.
Best regards
Donna
