Don't know if it is relevant but a Roman lead pig was found at
Snailbeach Farm (this is the old Snailbeach Farm which is the
half-timbered house behind the white hillocks) in 1796 and is now housed
in the British Museum. No record of a John Palmer but, in 1782, Thomas
Lovett of Chirk took a 21 year lease to Snailbeach Mine and, the
following year, formed the Snailbeach Company with seven others. COuld
your guy be one of the partners?
