In many large organisations librarians are not just low paid, but are
lowly-graded. However if you run an information and library service in
these organisations you still need to recruit staff and have to follow
their procedures. This can be extremely distressing for us information
professionals who really want to move the profession on but also have to
run services.
CILIP is however, recognised as being one of the main ways to advertise
for posts. So if CILIP were to refuse to take adverts for low paid jobs
then we would have really strong evidence that the grading of these
posts should be looked at. By CILIP continuing to accept the low paid
adverts all our efforts at getting the posts re-graded are thwarted.

I like the Kite mark idea - perhaps it could be very explicit:
"This post is advertised at below the recommended rate"
"This post is advertised at or above the recommended rate"
