A medical treatise written by the physician Mohammed bin Zakarai al-Razi
in 1012, stolen from the Awqaf Library in Mosul in 1995 and valued at
GBP250,000, has been seized by officers of the art and antiques unit of
the Metropolitan Police. It will be returned to the library once
officers are satisfied that this can be accomplished safely. So far 413
of the 464 items missing since 1995 have been recovered. Guardian, p9, 7
