a) Renewal of Licenses for SciFinder Scholar®
--------------------------------------------

After a successful year, Eduserv Chest is pleased to announce that CAS 
and Chest have agreed to continue their close collaboration, which has 
resulted in the continuation of a discount for the consortium. This 
covers the second year of a three-year period (1 October 2003 - 30 
September 2006) and both parties hope that individual institutions will 
continue the subscription for this second year.

In early October, CAS will be issuing invoices for the period of 1 
October 2004 through 30 September 2005. If you have any questions 
regarding your SciFinder Scholar configuration or would like more 
details about the agreement, please contact Dr. Barry Dunne as soon as 
possible, to ensure that you are invoiced appropriately and have the 
relevant access permissions. Sites interested in running a free trial 
and/or taking out a

b) LibWeb update
------------------

The agreement for LibWeb, LibWeb Global and Books out of Print has just 
entered its fourth year so there are two years remaining of the current 
period.  LibWeb is now called Nielsen BookData's LibWeb and is an online 
subscription service offering access to over 1 million searchable book 
records and extended data including over 140,000 jacket images.
 
The service also offers:
* Extensive and flexible searching facilities including subject, keyword 
and bulk ISBN searching
* Extended descriptive content including short and long descriptions, 
Dewey Codes, author biographies and tables of contents
* A tagging feature with download in CSV or UKMARC format
* "New Additions" shows all the latest books loaded onto the database 
the previous week
* Publisher and distributor details
* Pricing and availability information
* Nielsen BookScan's high street sales data

c) Call for expressions of interest in UK Official Publications (UKOP)
----------------------------------------------------------------

There has been a reasonable level of interest in our proposal for UKOP; 
details were first announced in June this year.  We would like to 
proceed with the negotiations but first we would like to hear from more 
sites who would be interested in a subscription.
 
UKOP is an online database of UK Government Publications, updated daily, 
including legislation and publications from national and devolved 
government, agencies and non-departmental public bodies. For more

Eduserv Chest would like to hear from sites who are interested in a two 
year agreement with TSO for an unlimited site licence with remote access

A current single user annual subscription is £1350 +VAT.
Access is currently via IP or username and password. It is hoped that 
Athens Authentication will be implemented during the course of the 
agreement.
