I think there are some US libraries offering self-booking for books but
the majority of them seem to be using the module for staff-booking
(which I don't like very much because it's too accommodating!)

Automatic cancellation of bookings after a library-defined period has been
on my wish list from Day One!
I'd also like to be able to offer the hourly calendar as default or
perhaps as the only calendar since our bookable items are all hourly
loans.
