Nick,
I haven't come across anything about this in the work I have
been doing recently, but, if you haven't already tried it, you might try
looking at JoDI http://jodi.ecs.soton.ac.uk. It is the sort of journal
that might address the issue.
Also, in principle the Taylor & Francis eBook system might make
such deep referencing possible, as might Amazon.com's (has to be the US
site) 'inside the book'.
Finally, if you do come up with anything, I would be really glad
to hear about it.
Regards,
Bruce

Subject: E-books and reference linking
I'm doing some research into e-book services and their interaction with
reference-linking software (e.g. Open URL, DOI, etc.). Can anyone point
me to any articles on the topic or offer any expertise?
At the moment, I'm only aware of options for shallow-linking to specific
book titles. I'm interested in exploring what options there might be for
deep-linking to individual chapters for example, in the same way as we
can link to specific journal articles within a given journal.
Thanks
Nick
