2nd Annual Careers Day for Information and Library Assistants 17 June
2004 at the University of York Library 9:30am - 4:20pm

Always wondering where your job could take you?
Tired of asking yourself "Is this all there is?"
 
Well fret no more!  Here is an opportunity to broaden your mind, expand
your horizons, and share experiences with fellow assistants. 

This day is intended to appeal primarily to library and information
assistants, from all sectors, who have do not possess a professional
library qualification, but have a wish to advance their career from
their current circumstances.  It aims to cover what your future
prospects might be, where your experience could take you, and how to
develop your professional skill base.

Speakers including Biddy Fisher(SHU), Jane Walton (YMLAC), Sally Gibbs
(Leeds Met), Sarah Hyde (SHU) and CDG President Joanna Ball (Trinity
College Cambridge) will be covering topics such as:

Ø     Opportunities for change following CILIP's qualifications review

Ø     Training & development opportunities for those without formal
library qualifications 
Ø     Continuing professional development and benefits of professional
involvement 
Ø     Career planning and cross-sector working
Ø     Developing the information assistant
Ø     Plus several personal accounts of career progression

This full-day event costs just £10 (+ VAT) and includes lunch,
refreshments, and a tour of the extensive new facilities at the
University of York Library. Yorkshire and Humberside members of CDG can
attend at the discounted price of just £7+VAT!
