Hello,
as a new participant to this IAQ-Museum forum I wanted to present myself.
I'm a tropical botanist (PhD MNHN Paris 1996) and following the indoor air
quality problems, with special attention to natural history museums
reference collections (eg. important herbarium collections, ethnological
collections, libraries, national heritage furniture and woods) in regard to
aging pesticide and fungicide such as persistant organochlorine (eg
lindane, pentachlorophenol sodium salts and lauric esters etc. + their off-
gasing synthesis impurities ) and short, medium and long term health
effects from occupational exposure.
Has there been any discussions on the topic (chemical analysis for dust
composition, airborn micropollutants, biological analysis on exposed staff)
outside usual monitoting of mercury dichloride ("calomel") and arsenic
salts used formerly as conservation agents ?
I have many observations linking the presence of seldom dosed persistant
organo-chemical and health effects on persons exposed for several years.
Thank you.
Best wishes for this new year 2004.
