I saw this film at the Toronto Film Fest, and I have to agree with the NYFF
presenter that it is more lucid than I would expect for a late Godard--it
blew me away, even at 11 am with very little sleep! Last year I really
enjoyed _Eloge_, which gets better with each viewing, but there are fewer
"entry points" in that film for someone who is new to the director (the only
other JLG film I've seen is _Contempt_, which has far more "entry points" in
my opinion--anyone can appreciate cinematography in the scene of the
couple's argument in the hotel room). I'm not sure if it's a great Godard
primer, but _Notre Musique_ is less dense than _Eloge_, which gave me more
of the sense that it contained a language only known to Godard initiates.
Besides _Sauve qui peut_, does anyone have any recommendations of good intro
films to G's early and late periods?
