Hi Mike, Paul et al.,
I was making this point in regards to the specificty of the "work of art" especially as concieved by the Russian
formalist..art = form, ..an example of this imbrication can be found (many) in the classical hollywood cinema..for
instance, some work I am doing at the moment on 'Casablanca', the flashback scene, where the stunning classicism of the
photography is formally disrupted by the 'newsreel' of the outskirts of Paris. There is the traumatic disruption of the
'dominant hollywood fiction' by the 'real' of history, but also there is the aesthetic disruption of the formal
qualities of the textual enterprise by this radically different "view". here then this relation between form and content
find their laocoon. An enmeshing of the notion of form and content.
