Hi Alan,
Hi,
An undeveloped observation: Alan's point about the transformation from
'out there' to 'in here' ("thinking about Munsterberg's assertion a
little more. I wonder if we might think about this as a form of
introjection. We begin by watching the film as "out there" and end up
by experiencing as "in here" ") made me think about Merleau-Ponty's work
on the 'reversibility' of world and self. His essay _Eye and Mind_
might be the key text here. Munsterberg's statement seems particularly
phenomenological too, but I don't know if this would be a useful
approach or not. Is there any work on Merleau-Ponty and film that might
help? Cheers,
Dean
