2001: A Space Odyssey comes to mind, as well as Last Year in Marienbad. Both films can also be looked at in terms of how distortions of space correspond to distortions of time as well.
A more "purely" (term used loosely) spatial focus can be found in Wong Kar-Wai's Fallen Angels, wherein the use of a fisheye lens for virtually most of the film expands visual space, connecting characters through formal technique even as they remain alienated from each other on the level of narrative.
I'm sure more will come to mind, from me and the others on this list. A lot of films which violate classical Hollywood conventions will probably pop up.
