Hi
Seymour Chatman discusses the freeze frame in his 'Coming to Terms.' It's
the chapter on description in the cinema (chapter 3), and it might be
relevant for your paper.
Also, if you understand German, there's a book entitled 'Das Ende im
Spielfilm,' written by Christen (surname). Christen examines different
kinds of endings in the fiction film. As one of the more popular ending
strategies he gives some attention to the mode of freeze-framing. One of
the more impressive examples of this kind would be in the film 'Elizabeth.'
Best,
Volker
