Chris - Your question puts me in mind of Oskar
Fischinger--which in turn put me in mind of Alex
Rutherford's quite remarkable contemporary spin on the
synthesis of abstract music & 'cinema', his
short/'promo video' for the band Autechre's piece
'gantz graf': a digital abstract animation executed in
three dimensions, accompanying music which must be
running at an exponent of the usual bpm (!)...This
animation of the piece was reported keyframed 'by
hand' - but it sure seems a fantastic example of
responsive, generative cinema, to me!
