Hi,
How about Godard, especially because he so doggedly explores the
specificity of cinematic / visual imagery? Many of his 60's films are
based on 'pulp' novels although usually considered 'anti' rather than
'non' narrative. In general, many of his films draw on literature to
various extents and in different ways. I don't know much about how his
more resolutely 'non-narrative' work in the 70's relates to literary
fiction, but that might be worth pursuing here.
