The David Lynch film, Fire Walk With Me, uses an abandon train as the
setting for a gruesome murder...Another director who had used trains as a
symbol of modernity and the passing of time was Ozu. What is so
interesting about Ozu is many times you do not see the train, but hear
it. The sound of the train becomes the symbol or motif.
