We had huge problems at the beginning of the year with external logins
and during the process we discovered that the University of New
Hampshire have an excellent record of many of the potential problems
with different browsers and possible fixes. Have a look at

Are any of the servers where clients are experiencing problems using
SSL. If you are not, then you may find that most of these difficulties
disappear when SSL is switched on. Just remember that this puts a load
on the server as well as the client.

Hi all,
With problems like this we have a 'general advice in good faith' policy,
but we cant be responsible for supporting home users. I think it's
widely agreed that AOL is not a good platform to use at home (personally
I think it's horrible!). Secondly, if other users can access BB okay and
one person (on AOL) cant get in, then it's guaranteed to be that
individuals home PC. So they need to use a sensible web browser
(Mozilla, IEv6) and check their local security settings to make sure
they aren't too high (as suggested already).

Some AOL clients use a proxy server to connect to the internet. This
could result in the dreaded "take over another user account" bug that
Blackboard have been investigating recently.
