LEARNING TECHNOLOGIST
(Maternity Leave Cover) 

The above 0.8 fte post is available from 10 January 2005 (or as soon as
possible thereafter) to cover for the absence of the postholder on maternity
leave. For a suitable candidate, 1.0 fte may become available for some or
all of the contract. 
Applications are sought from those with good communication skills and an
interest in the practical application of ICT in learning and teaching, to
cover the maternity leave of a member of UEA's Learning Technology Group
(LTG). 

This post is based in the Centre for Staff and Educational Development, and
a major requirement of the postholder will be to provide support and
training to University lecturers in the use of the Blackboard VLE. Excellent
training and web authoring skills are therefore of paramount importance. 

Other pre-requisites for the post are: 

general ICT awareness and competence 
excellent communication skills in a professional setting 
experience of helping adults learn, in the 1:1 and 1:many situation 
the ability to be patient with those whose grasp of ICT is more limited than
their own 

An empathy with and some understanding of approaches to teaching and
learning in Higher Education is highly desirable. 
As part of a proactive staff development team, which includes research and
development activities within its own brief, there will be opportunity to
become involved in other aspects of LTG work according to the skills and
interests of the successful applicant. 

Salary will be in the range pro rata to £22,507 to £29,128 per annum.
