David,
the problem seems to be related to the IIS service in conjunction with
the blackboard services. you could schedule a small batchfile to run in
the early of hours of the morning to restart all the services every day.
we have found this to effective in the main, though it doesn't stop the
occasional repeat (about once a week). I believe you can call the same
scheduled script from IIS as a option of what to run if the service
fails. I hope this suggestion is useful.

Subject: "Script failed to send data" in Blackboard 6.2
Over the past few weeks since installing Blackboard 6.2 we have
experienced a lot of Blackboard system failures. Most of the time they
are accompanied by "Script failed to send data" errors appearing on many
pages of the site.
We are running version 6.2.2.77-AppPack2 on a Dell/Windows 2003 server
with a Microsoft-SQL database hosted on the same physical machine as the
web-application.
Our academics are getting quite upset about these failures and our IT
manager is getting concerned about the stability of our system.
Blackboard are still investigation why our clean install keeps failing,
but in the meantime we would like to hear from any UK institutions who
have experienced a similar problem. Do institutions find that they have
to re-boot the server on a regular basis due to this or any other
problem?
Any help, advice or comments you may like to make will be gratefully
received.

BSUC Systems Manager - Web Technology (Webmaster).
