Samprit Chatterjee, co-author of "Regression Analysis by Example," will be
teaching "Introduction to Regression" online at statistics.com June
1-25. In statistics.com's online format you receive a reading guide,
exercises, feedback, and access to a discussion board where you have
regular interaction with the instructor. Courses require about 10 hours
per week at your convenience; there are no set hours.
"Introduction to Statistics" covers simple and multiple linear regression,
standard assumptions, how to check them and what to do when they are not
appropriate, diagnostics for residuals and influential observations,
transformations, multicollinearity, auto-correlation, variable selection
and more. For those who use regression but have never taken a full-blown
course, it is a convenient way to refresh and augment your skills.
Dr. Chatterjee is a Visiting Professor of Health Policy and Biomathematics
at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and Professor Emeritus of Statistics at
New York University. In addition to "Regression Analysis by Example" (the
course text, now in its 3rd edition), he has also co-authored "Sensitivity
Analysis in Linear Regression" and "A Casebook for a First Course in
Statistics and Data Analysis." Prof. Chatterjee has been a visiting
professor at Stanford University, MIT's Sloan School of Management, and the
Harvard School of Public Health.
