Two Postdoctoral Research Statisticians
These positions are based in the Biostatistics Unit (BSU) of the Medical
Research Council in Cambridge, UK, one of the leading European centres
for both applied and methodological biostatistics. As part of the BSU's
commitment to the EU Bloodomics Project, we are looking for postdoctoral
statisticians with a background in biostatistics, genetics, genomics, or
bioinformatics, or with significant post-graduate experience in the
above fields.
The post holders will develop, implement and apply statistical methods
for the design and analysis of microarray studies and cell function
assays, genetic association studies and linkage studies. The project
will identify risk genes for atherothrombosis in coronary artery
disease. Some knowledge of molecular biology and genetics would be
desirable. Experience of microarray analysis would be an advantage.
Preference will be given to candidates with strong computing ability
including programming experience in languages such as R, SAS, Perl, or C.
Both posts are funded until May 2008 and starting salaries will be in
the range of £24,000 - £29,000 per annum depending on qualifications and
experience. A flexible pay and reward scheme and optional final salary
MRC Pension Scheme support basic salaries. We can offer annual holiday
entitlement of 30 days plus public holidays and excellent on site sports
and social facilities.
