An excellent opportunity has arisen for three Risk Analysts within the
Centre for Epidemiology and Risk Analysis at the Veterinary Laboratories
Agency (VLA). VLA is an Executive Agency of the Department for Environment,
Food and Rural Affairs. It provides a specialist veterinary resource to the
UK Government to help it fulfil its aims and objectives in veterinary public
health and developing sustainable agriculture and food industries.
SENIOR RISK ANALYST
The Senior Risk Analyst will join the Risk Analysis team, to lead the import
and animal health group. Duties will include managing as well as working in
all aspects of risk analysis, initiating new projects and liasing with
specialists, collaborators, policy makers and other stakeholders.
Candidates should have a PhD in a quantitative subject, and a proven track
record of experience and success in risk analysis modelling. The post is
on a casual basis, with the possibility of permanency, in Pay Band C £29,075
- £48,075 per annum. An optional partnership pension account is provided.

RISK ANALYSTS (2 posts)
The Risk Analysts will participate in a team, working in all aspects of risk
analysis. The focus will be on development of quantitative risk assessment
models in the field of national and international veterinary and public
health. Candidates should have a degree, (preferably in a quantitative
subject or which includes a substantial quantitative element) and experience
in aspects of risk analysis modelling. The posts are in Pay Band D £22,300
- £32,100 per annum. The Civil Service offers a choice of final salary and
stakeholder pensions, giving you the flexibility to choose the pension that
suits you best.

For all three posts, knowledge or experience in some aspect of agriculture,
veterinary or public health or biology would be an advantage, as would
experience in project management and staff management.
