Hi Malcolm,
I think you should be uncomfortable with this proposal. Pedestrians and
vehicles don't mix and more especially where people with impairments are
involved. Has the developer carried out a risk assessment? I am sure that
health and safety issues would be a material consideration in this
situation.
Regards, John.

Subject: removeable handrail
Hi all.
Does anyone have an opinion on whether a removable handrail
should be
permitted to a ramp to a new building. The ramp forms part
of the access
road for loading and unloading at a new arts centre.
Because of site
constraints the developer wants the access road and the ramp
to be one. The
developer wants a removeable handrail so that when exhibits
or equipment is
being delivered the access road will be available for
vehicles.
I feel very uncomfortable with this option, what do you
think?
Thanks
Malcolm Crate
