I thought that this was an excellent tutorial - and I'd agree with those who feel that it should be compulsory for students to learn about plagiarism, having had to deal with both blatent cheating and the kind of unintentional plagiarism the tutorial also discusses, and which I feel can be difficult for students to conceptualise.
My only criticism is that the tutorial promotes the use of different fonts for quotations (in Section One > Definition, and in its own practice) - I've had enough of students messing about with fonts, alignment and even colour in their essays to last me a lifetime!
Thanks,
Rowin

Subject: On-line Tutorial for Students
Members may be interested to know about a new tutorial we have designed for
use by our students to help them understand what plagiarism is and how to
avoid it.
The tutorial is currently being piloted on a number of our courses this
year, and there are discussions on-going as to whether the tutorial should
be made compulsory for all our first-year students.
If you would like to look at the tutorial it is available for review at
http://odl.mmu.ac.uk. Use the i/d and password - plagiarism_guest
Comments and feedback most welcome.
