Hello,
I am currently conducting research into the introduction of peafowl to
Britain, considering the social significance of its arrival, the
establishment of breeding populations and so on. I posted a message last
November concerning medieval archaeological finds, the responses to which
I was very grateful for, but would now like to expand the research further
afield, looking at Roman, Saxon and Medieval specimens from across Europe.
If anyone knows of any archaeological or documentary evidence that could
be of use, I would be extremely grateful. The list of British Roman and
Saxon sites I have at present is:
Great Staughton, Portchester Castle, Cowdery's Down, Wicken Bonhunt and
Thetford.
Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide
