Mike,
List of Mines
Author: Great Britain. Mines Department.
Title: List of mines in Great Britain and the Isle of Man / United Kingdom.
Published: London.
* British Library - 1921-1939 (B.S.27/1)
* British Library of Political and Economic Science - 1915, 1917-21,
1923-45, 1948 & 1950
* Cambridge University Library - 1888-1915, 1917-38, 1945, 1948, 1950
* Cardiff Central Reference Library - 1888, 1893, 1894 to 1950 with some gaps
* Swansea (University Library) - 1888, 1889, 1895, 1897, 1899, 1900, 1918
plus 1892, 1893 bound with Mineral Statistics (Folios FX6552.3 HOM)
The above is extracted from
http://www.exeter.ac.uk/~pfclaugh/mhinf/location.htm which might be
supplemented with further locations provided as a result of your query to
the list. Needless to say, when next in Swansea of Cardiff I would happily
extract/copy specific detail.
As to not being able to find items like the List of Mines in the library
OPACs, most of them omit to tell you that they only contain stock received
after a certain date or stock details digitised as part of a set programme
which takes time to reach older stock not regularly accessed (like the List
of Mines). In which case you need to resort to the old card indexes or, in
the case of LLGC/NLW in Aberystwyth, micro fiche of those indexes.
