Wim Wender's early film _The Goalie's Anxiety at the Penalty Kick_
(_Die Angst des Tormanns beim Elfmeter_, 1972), adapted from Handke's
novel, features a football scene at the beginning of the film, where the
goalie is ejected from a game, walks out of the stadium, and follows a
path of inexplicable and strange behavior. He also frequently checks
the football scores throughout the film.
