Dear Colleagues
My earlier posting did not work quite as planned. The main text regarding this newly created post follows:
"The University of Botswana Library is looking for an archivist to set up our Archival section.Previous advertisement did not attract suitable candidates perhaps because it did not reach the wider community of archivists. In this regard, we are requesting your assistance in drawing the attention of the professionals in this aera to the advertisement which is carried in our University's web site - www.ub.bw as Vacancy No. LIS 1 / 2004 . The closing date is being extended to 31 march 2004.
Thank you for your assistance
Duduzile Mbaakanyi

Subject: Fw: FW: Advertisement for Senior Archivist
I am forwarding this at the request of a colleague in Botswana. The conditions of service for expatriate staff are as follows:
"Staff appointed on contract terms are eligible for one-way passage - on first appointment - from place of recruitment to Gaborone. At the end of the contract the same applies to home as defined in the contract. On renewal of contract, expatriate staff are eligible for return passages. We have Medical Aid Schemes where the University contributes 50%. Acceptance to the Schemes is at the discretion of the Medical Aid body. We provide staff with baggage allowance up to a limit set by Council and rates are according to geographical location of home and marital status of applicant. Staff are provided with housing - but no furniture - and rental is charged on a monthly basis. Currently, rental is subsidised for expatriate staff. The salary range for the position is P87 660.00 - P187 164.00 per annum."
The exchange rate is approximately £1 = Botswana Pula 9.
