Yes, indeed. It was published in 1965 and reflects the state of knowledge of its time. But it's still handy for the history of the cult (though even here one has to be cautious). The tourist-oriented websites also rely on later, more entertaining vitae. From some of their versions of the miracle of the sword, for example, one would never know that G. was initially said to have driven it into the earth (not rock) upon arrival at the site destined for his hermitage in order to implant a cross (formed by the upper parts of this implement) at this spot.
Sharon Dale's article appeared too late for inclusion in R(oberta) Mucciarelli, "Galgano, santo," _Dizionario biografico degli Italiani_, 51 (1998), 450-51. But the bibliography there is probably the first place to turn now for most of the important contributions on G. and on his Lives.
