Couldn't agree with you more. I find it particularly difficult for the
January series where students have just come from school and 9 times out of
10 their report has expired. What really upsets me about the Awarding
Bodies, apart fromthe fact that they have already been informed that centre
are struggling to meet the deadlines, is the letter they send reminding you
you have missed the deadline.

Subject: Closing dates for application for special examination arrangements
Please advise how you all manage to work within the constraints of the
ridiculous closing date of 21 February for making applications for special
arrangements etc, specifically for AS/VCE when the actual closing date for
entries is 21/3/03.
My Deputy Examinations Officer processes all applications and depends
entirely on the examination entry codes recorded on our system when we
process the examination entries to make application to the awarding bodies.
Unfortunately not all level 3 entries are input to our system by 21/2/03 -
we always have a number of students who decide re-sit units after the 11
March January result release date. As efficient as we try to be we always
sail very close to the wind submitting our entries for the summer AS/VCE
series.
We have tended in the most part to bend the rules regarding this closing
date for all but students who require modified/adapted papers etc, and
accept the wrath of the awarding bodies!
Is this the same for you.
Would not life be simple if we could apply special arrangements for a
syllabus as a whole rather than specific individual units.
Stella

We do the same - students pay for resits.
