As part of the challenge process in Doncaster Libraries' Best Value review,
I have been set the following piece of research and would welcome colleagues
views and thoughts on this very fundamental question.
Our CORPORATE Best Value Validation team have asked the following question (
Not withstanding the 1964 Public Libraries Act and the Public Library
Standards etc etc....)
Why do we have to have Public Library Provision in the form of the
traditional branch library network at all? Are there any other models of
whole scale service provision in this country that deliver the public
library service.
This may seem like a bizarre question but other than one stop shops, IDEA
stores, mobiles, trust status, deposit collections in non library buildings,
remote service delivery using ICT and any other "small scale" methods of
delivery we chose to employ for different client groups, can anyone help me
answer this?
