Caroline,
In these circumstances I believe it is your responsibility to check with the
producer/manufacturer that you have permission to use the CDROM since there
could be networking/license implications.

Subject: CD-ROM Donations
Hello,
I am looking for guidance on CD-ROM copyright/use in libraries.
We currently purchase CD-ROMs for lending from a specific supplier, however,
we have received a number of CD-ROMs as donations from a library user.
Although we are sure that these CD-ROMs would not be licensed for lending as
they were not purchased from a library supplier, we wondered whether we
would be in breach of the law by making them available for reference use in
the library only.
Has anyone come across a similar situation, or is anyone aware of the law in
this instance?
Many thanks for your help, I will be happy to post a summary of replies to
the list.
Caroline
