The College of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Edinburgh, is
seeking to appoint a Chair of German, to take up the post in October 2004
Job Description
The successful candidate will be an established scholar with an international
reputation in the field of modern German literary studies (‘modern’ interpreted
in the broadest possible sense) and a demonstrable ability to attract external
research funding. An additional interest in one or more of the following areas
may be of advantage: Comparative Literature, Film, Literary Theory, Translation
Studies, Cultural Studies. You will instruct both undergraduate and
postgraduate students in a flourishing teaching and research environment within
the Division of European Languages and Cultures. In the 2001 RAE EXERCISE
German and Scandinavian Studies was awarded a 5* grade. The post is available
from October 2004.
