Dear Pat,
i don't know anything about the question, per se, but i do know that if David
Bell says that that is the case, then it surely is.
David is one of the finest scholars i've ever known and (one of) his (many,
many) areas of profound expertise is Cistercian libraries.
also, his yearly papers in the Cistercian sessions at k'zoo are *not* to be
missed (as in: BEST of SHOW).
plus, his wife, Cistercian artistorian Terryl Kinder, is usually giving a
paper in the same (usually Sunday morning) session --as is Chrysogonus
Waddell-- and this triple header is *always* worth staying over for.
if David says it's so, it's just so, end of question.
he's a very friendly and generous sort of fellow and would probably answer an
email enquiry --he's at the Memorial University of Newfoundland.
best from here,
christopher
