WILIP: OUTCOMES & PROSPECTS FOR RESOURCEšS WIDER LIBRARIES PROGRAMME

Places remain for this topical CPI Seminar, relevant to all sectors of the
library and information community.
The results of the stage 1 consultative phase of the Wider Libraries
Programme were recently published. (The Full Report, and a Summary Report
and Next Steps, are at http://www.resource.gov.uk/action/wilip/wilip.asp).
They identify issues to which libraries and information providers must
respond to meet the vision that users will have of services in the future.
They highlight the key challenges identified across all sectors, and set
out the steps now to be taken to engage policy-makers and key influencers
and to position LISs at the heart of national strategies for the Knowledge
Society.
AIM: to provide an early opportunity to examine and comment on the outcomes
of WILIP so far and on the forthcoming strategy stage, 'Routes to
Knowledge'.
