Tuesday 25 November 2003, 10.15am to 3.45pm
Stamford, near Peterborough
CPI Library and Information Policy Seminar
The CONTEXT for this seminar is the trend for moving from discrete local
studies (local history) libraries to broader local studies services,
involving greater collaboration between public libraries, archives and
museum services. Themes include People's Network digitisation projects,
Framework for the Future themes (e.g. community identity), the increasing
collaboration across the three domains, convergence, multiskilling, job
redesign, the physical planning of integrated services, and customer needs.
The seminar will examine the emerging issues, questions and solutions for
the three domains.
TARGET AUDIENCE: local studies managers in public libraries, regional and
government bodies; library partnerships and co-operatives, and others
concerned with the development of local heritage and memory services,
especially colleagues in the archive and museum domains. Opportunities for
discussion and debate are built in throughout the day.
