Hi,
In the East of England, there is some concern about the rather rapid implementation required for the Copyright Directive, especially in terms of how to establish a sensible, realistic procedure for staff.
In his presentation at Umbrella, Surviving the New Copyright Directive (accessible through CILIP's Libraries and Copyright Alliance page http://www.cilip.org.uk/committees/laca/directive.html), Charles Oppenheim suggests two approaches: getting a CLA licence to cover internal copying, or using the sticker system, especially if internal volume is low.
However, this leaves aside the awkward encounters at the desk when users ask you directly about copying...
We would like to hear how other libraries plan to deal with the implementation. Responses can be via the list, or if filled with too many expletives, addressed to me, and I will collate responses.
Thanks,
Linda
