I do not know which article you are referring to, but may I suggest that you try the US-based National Clearinghouse for site stabilization web-site.
It has a bibliography on some PIS schemes in the US. It is very useful for getting ideas (not all applicable over here of couse) for preservation in
situ
given the extreme lack of information readily available in the UK. I found it to be very useful when working on EH's Mitigation of Construction
Impact Study
(which I understand is forthcoming finally in some format!). Hope this is helpful.
