We are currently in the process of implementing fiction categorisation using
8 categories. We are interested in the experiences of any other authorities
who are doing this as we have a number of questions:
At what point is the category decided e.g. at order, on receipt. There seem
to be pros and cons associated with both.
What criteria/sources are used for decisions ? Are decisions on specific
authors recorded in any way for future reference ?
How is it displayed on the catalogue ?
Any other thoughts/advice gratefully received!
(Our categories are: crime, SF/Fantasy, general, historical, romance,
thriller, westerns, war)
