Dear all,
We trust that you've all had a good summer !
PLEASE COPY THIS TO COLLEGUES WHO MIGHT WISH TO ATTEND
Please can we remind you that the next Tectonic Studies Group Annual
meeting will be hosted in the new Dept of Earth Sciences at the
University of Durham. We have set a web-site with some preliminary
details and a contact e-mail...this will be upgraded as the
meeting and its' associated dealines approach. Please go to:
http://www.dur.ac.uk/tsg.geolsci/TSG_2004
Briefly, the meeting will have a number of additional components in
addition to the usual programme of talks and posters. These include:
- Short courses in Digital Structural Mapping and in Petroleum Geomechanics
- A special half-day field seminar open to all attendees studying
exposures of the 90 Fathom Fault at Cullercoates and/or recently
reactivated faults in the coalfields of NE England (weather permitting !)
- Two special seminars presented by Richard Hillis and Chris Morley,
generously sponsored by Shell (see website for details)
- A post conference field trip to see spectacularly exposed examples of
transpressional and transtensional deformation structures in NE England
and SE Scotland
- we hope that the meeting will take place in our new Dept building
which is currently under construction on the University Science
Site...we are supposed to move in this summer
So - all in all, we hope it will be an exciting and entertaining event.
Those deadlines in full:
Dealine for abstracts (1 side of A4): OCTOBER 31st 2003
Deadline for registration: November 30th 2003
Cheers
Ken McCaffrey, Bob Holdsworth, Phillip Clegg & Jonny Imber
