medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Brenda,
thank you for your attention.
Yes, at the very beginning I also was surprised to see so strong
similarities between the Dualists (Bogomil&Cathars) and the Lollards. But
later on, gathering and comparing data there was no doubt: the beliefs
and the rituals of the two groups coincide almost fully.
So, I prefer the criterion of the facts, of the sociological exactitude.
If am obliged to make a choice between the facts and ready made formula
(Trinitarians), I prefer the facts.
I dare to invite you see my article "Bogomil and Lollards" (on
http://www.geocities.com/bogomil1bg/Bgml_Lllrd.html)
just to offer to you the accumulated information in order you can make
your own observations.
The newest (and the old correct ones) opinions about Bogomils and Cathars
say that they were Christians, though dissidents. I should recommend
you "Heresis" (Revue d'heresiologie medievale)N13-14 where they are
rightly called "The Counter Church Evangelist of the Dualists".
Let me joint an evidence by the famous inquisitor Bernard Gui (Guidoni):
In primis communiter dicunt de se ipsis quod ipsi sunt boni
christiani...quod tenent fidem Domini Ihesu Christi et evangelium ejus...)-
Manuel de l'inquisiteur. T. I.Paris, 1926,p.24.
Georgi (Vasilev),
suspected by himself to be a little bit heretic
