Hi Folks,
Apologies for multiple postings.
Within the scope of the 26th Nordic Geological Winter Meeting (January
6-9, 2004 in Uppsala, Sweden), Harro Schmeling and myself are convening
a session on "Analogue and Numerical Modelling".
The application of analogue and numerical modelling in different fields
of structural geology and geodynamics has increased significantly over
the last few decades. Separately or combined, these techniques have been
shown to have great potential for study of the evolution of geological
processes in 4-D. Many sophisticated approaches have been developed to
model challenging problems from macroscopic to lithospheric scales such
as folding, faulting, diapirism, sedimentary basin evolution and
mountain building using a wide range of materials and rheologies. Using
numerical methods the mechanical and thermal evolution of geological
structures can be modelled simultaneously now. With this session, we
invite researchers who use modelling as a tool in their research to join
us in Uppsala. We hope to gather modellers from different parts of the
World to contribute to this session.
