University of Nottingham
Trent Institute for Health Services Research
Masters in Health Services Research (MSc HSR)
Starting 29th September 2003
The Trent Postgraduate Programme in Health Services Research is a
postgraduate training programme to equip health professionals with the
skills for carrying out effective research within the NHS.
The Programme will accommodate a multi-disciplinary intake - subject to the
requisite entry requirements being met, and any additional selection
procedure. Anyone who requires formal training in the skills necessary to
make a contribution to health services research should consider applying, or
those who are formally contracted with, say, a University, but in practice
are expected to undertake health services research. The Programme is an
opportunity for those envisaging a career in clinical research, to undertake
a Certificate or Diploma as a foundation to a research doctorate or
equivalent. The Programme includes a Masters degree which provides a
combination of sound health services research training with a project
related to their own work experience. This training will equip participants
to participate in health services research as well as being a foundation for
a career based on lifelong learning.
The Programme offers Certificate, Diploma and Master level courses at each
of the three University sites where the Trent Institute for Health Services
Research is based (Leicester, Nottingham and Sheffield). All courses are
targeted at part-time students, enabling students' NHS service commitment to
be pursued alongside their postgraduate studies.
