Hi Betsy,
I'm using a Sony TCM-5000EV, which works with standard audio tapes, and am
very pleased with it. I use a Sony mic (F99LT) that I have had for years,
and the combination gives good results. Sony no longer manufactures the
adaptor that goes with this tape recorder, but you can get a standard 6V
adaptor from any electronics store that works fine with it-- or use
batteries.
Good luck on your search,
Patricia Campion
