Hi Betsy,
I didn't use a digital recorder but I did use a Sony handheld: TCS-60DV,
which produced beutifully clear tapes. It has 2 omnidirectional flat mics.
I found it in "6th Avenue Electronics", which I think is a chain. I looked
at the Wiz, Circuit City, and big box stores as well as in smaller boutique
stores and didn't find anything as nice. I think I paid about $150 for it
two years ago. It's small and solid. I don't regret spending the extra
money on it b/c I have used cheapos in the past and this made my (and my
transcriptionist's) life easier.
Hope that's helpful,
Kim Sumner-Mayer, PhD, LMFT
