The National Acquisitions Group are holding a seminar on 'Tendering and
Consortia at The Malmaison Hotel, Leeds on Wednesday 11th June and also at
CILIP HQ on Tuesday 17th June.
AIMS
This seminar is designed to provide its participants with an update of the
work of consortia in both the academic and public sectors. This update will
include an assessment of the current standing of consortia and their future
role and development. The dynamics of the management and decision making
process within a consortia will be discussed as well as case studies of
individual consortia being presented. Viewpoints from the supplier and
publisher perspective will also be provided.
The programme includes :
* Tom Chadwick, Director of Procurement Development, Jt Procurement
Policy & Strategy Group will give an overview of consortia in the UK.
* Elizabeth Harbord, Head of Collection Management, University of York
Library speaks about managing the work of consortia.
* Susan Wright, Regional Purchasing Co-ordinator, Southern
Universities Purchasing Consortium will discuss legislation and the options
for tendering.
* Ruth Dale, Acquisitions Manager, De Montfort University, Leicester
and Jane Butler, Senior Librarian Stock: Purchase and Management, Wakefield
LIS present case studies from the academic and public sectors.
* Nick Jacklin, Sales Manager, Dawson Books will present the suppliers
viewpoint.
* Clare Holmes, Sales Manager, Electronic Resources, Thomson Learning
will give publisher's view.
* Geoffrey Gilbert, Learning & Research Support, Information Services,
University of Birmingham will introduce NAG's new Tendering documentation.
